NASHVILLE – Former University of Alabama in Huntsville head coach Lennie Acuff has been named the 19th head men’s basketball coach at Lipscomb University, Director of Athletics Philip Hutcheson announced on Tuesday. Acuff comes to town with more than 550 wins in his 29-year coaching career.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Lipscomb fell to Texas in the National Invitation Tournament Final, 81-66, despite a combined 32 points from First Team All-Conference members Rob Marberry & Garrison Mathews. Marberry finished with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, while the ASUN Player of the Year Mathews scored 15 with eight rebounds.

The Bisons can become the second team in ASUN Conference history to win a National Postseason Tournament for any sport, while the Longhorns look for their second NIT title (1978).
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Trailing by 11 points with eight minutes remaining in the game, Lipscomb ended the contest on a 21-3 run to advance to the National Invitation Tournament Final with a 71-64 victory against Wichita State in Madison Square Garden. Lipscomb is the first-ever ASUN Conference team to reach the NIT Final and the fourth in conference history for any sport to compete for a national title.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Lipscomb looks become the first team in ASUN history to advance to the NIT Finals on Tuesday when they take on No. 6 seed Wichita State out of the American Athletic Conference. The Bisons got to this point after going on the road three times and upsetting Davidson, UNC Greensboro and NC State. In the quarterfinal victory against NC State, ASUN Player of the Year Garrison Mathews went for a career-high 44 points. The Bisons and Shockers square off on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York at 6 PM CT on ESPN.
NEWARK, N.J. – The NJIT Highlanders (22-13) fell to the Hampton Pirates (18-16) in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) Quarterfinals at the Wellness and Events Center on Thursday night, 82-70. Zach Cooks led the team in scoring with 22 points followed by senior Diandre Wilson with 12 points.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - In its debut in the ASUN Conference Men's Basketball Championship, Liberty came away the conference title and automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament with a 74-68 victory against top-seeded Lipscomb. Led by ASUN Championship Most Valuable Player, Scottie James, the Flames went against a hostile crowd of 5,687 which set a facility record for attendance and marked the seventh-straight sell-out crowd for the conference final.
