Ospreys Win OT Thriller; FGCU's Terrell Joins 1,000-Point Club in Home Rout

LakePoint, Ga. - North Florida and FGCU collected home wins in Wednesday's ASUN Conference Men's Basketball action. The Ospreys won an overtime thriller, while the Eagles scored early and often to rout their opponent and stay undefeated at Alico Arena. 

North Florida picked up a big home win 84-81 in overtime against Eastern Michigan. Garrett Sams led the Ospreys with 20 points, before sitting out the final minutes of overtime with cramps. Ivan Gandia-Rosa (14) and Noah Horchler (14) joined Sams in double figures, with Horchler making the biggest bucket of overtime to put the Ospreys up three points in the final minute. Gandia-Rosa sent the game into the extra period when connected on deep three with eight seconds to go. Horchler and Wajid Aminu pulled down nine rebounds each, with Aminu adding four blocks defensively. Gandia-Rosa also dished out a team-high five assists. 

FGCU dominated Webber International as they won 115-61 tonight. From the opening tip, it was all Eagles as they started the game on a 27-0 run. Christian Terrell scored nine points in the opening minutes, to become the 179th player in ASUN Men's Basketball history to surpass the 1,000 career point mark. Terrell finished with a game-high 18 points and added 10 rebounds for a double-double. Seven total Eagles finished in double figures with Zach Johnson (16) and Brandon Goodwin (14) the next leading scorers. The 115 points scored is the second-highest total the Eagles have scored since joining the ASUN, and seventh-highest scoring total over the last 10 years in the conference. They scored 120 points on this date exactly one year ago.  
 
Lipscomb and USC Upstate suffered setbacks on the road on Wednesday night. The Bisons lost on the road at Tennessee Tech 86-80, with Garrison Mathews scoring a team-high 18 points. USC Upstate traveled to UNC Asheville and dropped the contest 82-70. Ramel Thompkins scored a team-high 15 points, with Mike Cunningham chipping in 13 for the Spartans.
