@ASUNBSB Sees 14 Players Selected in the 2019 MLB Draft


ATLANTA, Ga. - For the seventh-straight season, the ASUN Conference saw double-digit players selected in the Major League Baseball Draft. The league produced 14 picks total, just one shy of last year's total of 15. ASUN Pitcher of the Year, Brad Deppermann of North Florida led the way as he was the first ASUN player off the board, going in the seventh round to the Chicago Cubs. Jacksonville's Angel Camacho and Liberty's Evan Brabrand & Jonathan Embry were also taken in the first 10 rounds, marking the second-straight season the ASUN had at least four players selected in the first 10 rounds. 

RHP Brad Deppermann, North Florida - Chicago Cubs (7th Round/222nd Overall)
- First Team All-Conference Selection; 2019 ASUN Pitcher of the Year (First in UNF history)
- Finished his collegiate career with 240 strikeouts, most in North Florida history

1B/3B Angel Camacho, Jacksonville - Toronto Blue Jays (8th Round/237th Overall)
- Two-time First Team All-Conference selection; two-time All-Academic Team selection
- Hit .317 this past season with a career-high 10 homers and 41 RBIs; led the ASUN in RBIs in 2018 with 58

RHP Evan Brabrand, Liberty - Miami Marlins (9th Round/261st Overall)
- First Team All-Conference selection in 2019
- Recorded 13 saves and a miniscule 1.56 ERA out of the Flames bullpen this season

C Jonathan Embry, Liberty - Tampa Bay Rays (10th Round/308th Overall)
- 2019 ASUN Player of the year and unanimous First Team All-Conference selection
- Finished second in the ASUN in homers with 11, while knocking in 44 runs and hitting .310

RHP Zach Bryant, Jacksonville - Chicago Cubs (15th Round/462nd Overall)
- Posted a 3.48 ERA with 12 saves to go along with 44 Ks against 19 walks in just 31 innings of work
- Second Team All-Conference selection 

OF Tanner Murphy, North Florida - New York Mets (18th Round/538th Overall)
- Two-time First Team All-Conference selection
- Swiped 19 stolen bases this season and became UNF's all-time leader with 38

RHP Evan Lumbert, FGCU - San Francisco Giants (24th Round/716th Overall)
- Was FGCU's Saturday starter, helping the Eagles to an ASUN Regular Season title
- Went 6-3 with a 3.05 ERA with 64 Ks in 73 innings pitched

RHP, Josh Coburn, Kennesaw State - Detroit Tigers (25th Round/742nd Overall)
- Made 12 starts with his first season with KSU, striking out 36 batters
- Struck out a season-high seven batters against Richmond on 2/16

LHP Mitchell Senger, Stetson - New York Mets (26th Round/778th Overall)
- 2018 Second Team All-Conference selection and 2019 Preseason Pitcher of the Year
- Went 9-2 as a sophomore in 2018 with 2.51 ERA and 114 Ks over 93.1 innings

RHP Robbie Peto, Stetson - Tampa Bay Rays (26th Round/788th Overall)
- Posted a 3.98 ERA for Stetson this past season, striking out 78 batters in 74.2 innings
- Helped toss a combined no-hitter against Florida State back on May 8th

RHP Chris Kachmar, Lipscomb - Chicago Cubs (28th Round/852nd Overall)
- First Team All-Conference selection; first Lipscomb pitcher since 2016 to earn First Team recognition
- Went 9-3 with a 3.61 ERA in 15 starts for the Bisons, striking out 94 Ks in 94.2 innings

RHP Keegan Collett, FGCU - San Diego Padres (35th Round/1,043rd Overall)
- Struck out 22 batters in just 15 innings of work out of the bullpen for FGCU this past season
- Struck out a season-high three batters on three seperate occasions (vs. Siena, at Miami, vs. USF)

RHP Chris Mauloni, Jacksonville - Boston Red Sox (35th Round/1,067th Overall)
- Was an All-American as a freshman in 2018; led the nation in saves with 20 in 2018
- In just two years at JU, he has struck out 71 batters in just 47.1 innings of work

RHP Andrew McInvale, Liberty - Toronto Blue Jays (37th/1,107th Overall)
- Went 10-3 with a 3.41 ERA in 103 innings of work
- Led the ASUN in starts, wins, innings pitched and was third in strikeouts with 101
