FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lipscomb captured the program's second-ever Atlantic Sun Baseball Championship Title with an 8-7 decision against top-seeded North Florida from FGCU's Swanson Stadium. Senior outfielder Jonathan Allison collected the A-Sun Championship Most Valuable Player honors after recording six hits in four games including three extra-base hits and four RBIs.

North Florida (45-16) started the scoring in the third inning with three runs as Garrick Ferguson scored on a wild pitch before Kyle Brooks and Donnie Dewees also crossed the plate on RBIs from Trent Higginbothem and Ryan Roberson. Dewees entered the contest with 86 runs on the season; one short of the A-Sun single-season record. He tallied two runs in the contest to break Frank Corr's record, which was set in 2000.

Lipscomb (39-18) battled back in the top of the fourth by totaling five runs headlined by a three-run homer by Allan Hooker as a pinch hitter propelled the Bison into the lead they wouldn't relinquish. Prior to Hooker's homer, Josh Lee started the scoring on a single down the left-field line to plate Grant Massey. Tyson Ashcraft followed with a single to bring home Allison.

Nick Andros relieved Ian Martinez-McGraw to start the fourth inning and held the Ospreys to only three hits on three strikeouts and one earned run to capture his sixth victory of the season. Jaesung Hwang entered for the two-inning save as UNF managed three hits and three runs; all of which were unearned.

The Bisons added a run in the fifth on Josh Lee's sacrifice fly with Michael Gigliotti tagging on the play. UNF battled back with a sacrifice fly of its own by Ferguson to plate Corbin Olmstead before adding another run in the 8th on Nick Karmeris' single up the middle to score Olmstead once again.

Both teams scored twice in the ninth inning with Lipscomb building an 8-5 advantage before North Florida nearly tied the contest with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a throwing error and a Higginbothem RBI single. The UNF rally ended on a steal attempt on a ball in the dirt and a groundout to the A-Sun Defensive Player of the Year, Grant Massey.

Lipscomb now awaits its opponent and site destination for NCAA Regionals. The NCAA Selection Show airs on Monday, May 25th at Noon ET on ESPNU. North Florida, who sits at No. 45 in the RPI, will await to see if they earn the program's first at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament after posting a program record 45 wins, which is tied for third-most in the NCAA.
