Top-Seeded Stetson Defeats UNF, Advances to Title Match

DELAND, Fla. - Top-seeded Stetson advanced to its seventh consecutive ASUN Beach Volleyball Championship title match with a 3-1 win over No. 2 North Florida Friday morning. 

North Florida got on the board first as No. 3 pair Madilyn McCarty and Nicole DeBolt dispensed of Rachel Noble and Ana Costa, 21-19, 21-18. Stetson tied the match at 1-1 as its No. 5 pair of Rebecca Ingram and Quinci Birker swept Kirby Smith and Lauren Galinis, 21-8 and 21-17.

In an exciting three-set match, the Hatters' No. 1 pair of Carly Perales and Sunniva Helland-Hansen downed Brittany Pase and Chaney Howard, 19-21, 21-18, 15-11.

The Hatters clinched the victory when pair No. 2 of Darby Dunn and Sammee Thomas, the ASUN Pair of the Year, defeated Antonia Harrison and Carolyn Cain, 21-10 and 21-6.

Stetson advances to the title match scheduled for 1 PM ET Saturday. North Florida takes on the winner to today's final match between No. 3 FGCU and No. 4 Coastal Carolina Saturday at 11 AM ET.
